Our Review of the Zooper Zydeco single stroller

After passing rigorous endurance trials, the Zooper Zydeco stands as the elite stroller edition in Zooper's line of luxury all terrain strollers. The Zydeco is plush padded, totally maneuverable, durably constructed, and roomy. 12" air filled tires, water and wind-proof Smart Fabric construction, and suspended seat provide a smooth ride from your child's infancy until they are 45 lbs. The front wheel swivels for tight turns, or locks in place "on the fly" for increased stability.  In a truly innovative move, the locking mechanism for the front wheel is located right on the handle, making the switch from swivel to straight extremely quick and convenient. 2008 models include a single-step rear break for secure stopping.

The extra soft seating area of the Zooper Zydeco converts to a pram by dropping the seat into the full recline position, which is just as good for toddlers who tend to doze off while strolling. 2008 models incorporate a comfortable newborn head support cushion pillow. You can also attach a compatible infant car seat* with the included security strap. The seat of the Zydeco is reversible, enabling your child to face toward you if - like most parents - you just can't stand taking your eyes off them.

Bottom Line: The Zooper Zydeco could be dubbed the Cadillac of all-terrain swivel wheel strollers: It's plush, luxurious, and heavy. While the extra weight of the high strength aluminum frame and shocks add cushioning and stability, making this stroller suitable for use over tough terrain, the Zydeco weighs in at a hefty 29 lbs. and may be hard for some parents to lift when folded.  For lack of a better term, the Zydeco is a more 'masculine' stroller than most, especially when you take into account the auto-quality pearl-white liquid painted frame and wheel rims.

A close competitor of the Zydeco is the Valco Tri-Mode stroller. The Valco comes in a similar design, but is less of a complete package than the Zooper, since there are fewer included accessories.** The Tri-Mode has one distinct advantage over the Zydeco, in that can convert to a double stroller with the Runabout Toddler Seat accessory.

great stroller, but cheaply made

3
Reviewer: Radka , Easthampton, MA Date: August 11, 2008
I've had this stroller for two years now. I like that it comes with all the bells and whistles - foot muff, UV filter, rain cover. I like the fact that it has an adjustable handle bar, so if my older daughter wants to push it, she can, if I need it higher up when rollerblading, I can raise the bar as well. I LOVE the fact that it has a fully reclining seat and that the seat is reversible - my 4 months old can ride in it as well as my 2 year old. What I don't like about it is the fact that it is cheaply made. The cables for the reclining seat did not work to begin with - I got them replaced by the manufacturer. The cable for the swiwel wheel stopped working after a year and now the wheel will not lock itself at all. And finally, I do not like Zooper's warranty, unlike competition such as Bob stroller that has a 5 year warranty on frame and 1 year on parts, Zooper has only a 4 months warranty on parts and 6 months on frame. Designed not to last. I would not purchase this stroller again:-((((

good but some problems

A friend surprised me with this stroller. (It was not the one we registered for!). It has really grown on me. It was great in the ice and snow and mud. However, as another person wrote, the cables used to recline the seat broke on this one as well. Since we are hundreds of miles from the nearest dealer, I fixed it myself by getting wire and wire crimpers. I have a three month old and can even take her jogging with the seat mostly reclined. It has a very gentle motion that rocks her right to sleep.

GREAT STROLLER

5
Reviewer: A. Briggs-Willis , Bronx, NY Date: March 06, 2008
I bought this stroller for my granddaughter, and I love it and so does my daughter. Contrary to other reviews, we found it easy to fold and put into car trunks. The size of the stroller is great for a growing baby. My granddaughter is almost three years old, average in size and she still has extra room for comfort even with her winter coat on. This stoller is great for walking. I like to see her when I'm walking, especially when she's asleep, while sometimes she like to face out to see what's going on around her. The easily reversible seat make this convieniently possible to accomodate both of our desires. My daugter is slightly taller than me, so the adjustable handles are one of her many favorites of the stroller. My second daughter is a very small woman, so she didn't want the stroller for her son, however she did appreciate the adjustable handles when she had to watch her niece. It made for easier travel for her because of her short height. There are so many other qualities I could include about this stroller. Over all this is a great product . Thumbs up to Zooper!

CAR SEAT

Reviewer: Anonymous , New York, NY Date: December 11, 2007
Love the stroller...only wish there was a car seat adapter for the frame only. The seat is so big and heavy to travel with when you are going to leave the child in the car seat anyway. Please Zooper, consider making an adapter for the frame!!!!

Not Reliable

2
Reviewer: Anonymous , Ontario Canada Date: October 12, 2007
This stroller is a wonderful stroller for anyone who lives on rough terrain. However, it is not reliable. Our stroller is just over the one year and it has had the wheels fall off, and the cables have broke that allow the seat to recline. I would also like to add that to get the cabels fixed was extremely expensive. Would not recommend this stroller. Not reliable or cost efficient.

LOVE IT LOVE IT!

We bought this in Black. It looks sleek and stylish and we've noticed people always looking at it, especially when it is in rear-facing position! People comment on it ALL the time. Pros: Large sunshade - really excellent feature. Easy to maneuver with the swivel wheel, and hand brakes easy to engage. Really comfortable seat with full recline is great for when the baby is tiny, or just napping!! I Love the safety netting that is under the footrest - they don't mention it in the review, but as well as safety netting, it catches your baby's toys while out walking! No more losing toys on the side walk. The straps are nice and adjustable too, and I also love the fact that they include the cupholder...The rain guard is awesome - works really well. The fact that the canopy back zips off is another really well thought out feature - it is really nice for hot days when there is a bit of a breeze and you are walking in shady areas. Great on snow too - the big wheels are much easier through snow than smaller wheels. Our baby loves this stroller and has been in it since she was 5 weeks old. We used the sleeping bag exhaustively during the winter...really handy! Cons. The additional sun shade snaps are really hard to do up in forward facing position as they are right at the point where the frame crosses the seat. A bit heavy (29lb) - please Zooper can you make it a bit lighter for future buyers? Even 2 lbs would be good! Also a bit too bulky when folded...is there a way to make it flatter when folded up? We've got a Maclaren Triumph for the car for this reason. We only use the Zooper around the streets -urban stuff, not for running errands. All in all an excellent stroller, that has been thoroughly thought through. Hope this helps someone in their decision making!

Zooper Zydeco

Reviewer: Anonymous , New York, New York Date: March 23, 2006
I LOVE my zydeco. The only problem we have is that we live in NYC and it is hard to get into taxis, or the trunk of a car. It is amazing on the street, VERY comfortable for the baby, and rides like a Cadillac.

Brilliant!

I did a lot of research before I bought a stroller and this one far exceeded my expectations. Less expensive and more plush than the bugaboo! Bought this in the U.S. and brought back to Aust. perfect for outdoors and all terrain! Now they sell them here and they will be outselling the cheap mountain buggy in no time! You will not regret this purchase it is so versatile and has so many features!
