Our Review of the Svan High Chair

The Svan High Chair is Scandinavian design at its best. Made from bent Birch, this wood highchair is as sturdy and stable as it is beautiful. The unique Svan High Chair features a quick snap-on/snap off tray for easy cleaning. When not in use, the tray clips to the back of the chair for convenient storage. The Svan?s seat and footrest adjust to multiple height positions, but unlike other adjustable wood high chairs, the Svan?s seat also adjusts horizontally to accommodate your child as the years pass. The Svan is one of the few high chairs that can cater to an infant, adjust to a youth chair, expand to seat your school-age youngster, and even convert to a full adult chair able to support up to 250 lbs.

Safety-certified by JPMA, the Svan offers a 3-point safety seatbelt and a sliding safety guard that opens with the turn of a knob. If your child is already able to sit independently, take a look at the Svan Chair the exact same design without the infant kit and safety guard. Flat plywood seat with no pad seems to make our child want to get up earlier then with her old seat. Cleaning is a nightmare, bolt holes, openings in wood, etc. I guess you just let it get dirty? The tray is the hardest of 3 high chairs we have to attach in then detach. Overall based on the three high chairs we have I would rank this one third. Style but not much function.

Hi there- Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We're always eager to hear the good and the bad from our customers. Here are some cleaning tips for the Svan. Being that it's wood, it should be treated like any other wood furniture in the home. We have found that the best way to clean it is to wipe if off using a damp cloth. The plastic tray cover was made to make cleaning a little easier, since that piece can be rinsed off and placed in the dishwasher. As far as the nooks and crannies, that can be an ongoing challenge with many high chairs and they do get dirty! Several of our customers find a small brush like a toothbrush works great on the nuts and bolts when they get dirty.

Typically, most Svan chairs are sold with an accessory cushion for comfort reasons which comes in a variety of colors and is machine washable. Our tip on attaching the tray easier is to position yourself behind the chair. It's much easier to line up. I hope this information helps. Again, thank you for your review.

Excellent purchase

The Svan high chair was an excellent buy. It arrived nicely packaged and was easy to put together with the instructional DVD. My son has Down's Syndrome and this chair offers great support from his feet resting on the footrest (this is important for him because of his low muscle tone). The chair is beautiful and easy to use and it takes up less space than another dining chair. It will be a nice chair for years to come as well.

Outstanding

I have been very happy with my Svan Highchair. I wanted something that didn't look like a big bulky chair and blended with my dining room. This matches perfectly; my son really like it and the fact that it will grow as my son does is fantastic. Assembly was fairly easy and my family all comments on what a cool highchair we have.

Modern and Functional Chair

We love this chair so much that we brought it with us to the hotel for a wedding. My husband carried from room to each restaurant and banquet hall so our son would be comfortable and happy. We won't use the generic, hard, germy high chairs at eateries. With the optional pad, the wrap around sides and the removable tray and liner the chair is comfortable for our tiny little guy. We got compliments everywhere we went too! And the orange cushion is trendy with the cherry color. This chair will grow with our son too!

Great Chair

This is a stylish, yet practical chair. It matches our dining set, but is comfortable for our 7 month old. Love the cushions(got orange and brown) and the tray that comes with it is excellent. Keeps the table clean and also has a lip to keep spills from running down the back of the tray. Really love the design--matches our contemporary style home.

Of 3 children and 3 chairs this one is the best! Pricey but worth every penny! It's not bulky, cleans up very well, moves around easier than any other chair I've had or seen, fits even my chunky boy, fits in all spaces including under the table for use without the tray. Its' 'furniture look' blends well so it's nice to have one less brightly colored plastic huge piece of baby equipment.

We purchased the Svan High Chair because of its ability to grow with our 4 month old son. The chair assembled easily, and is quite sturdy. Garrett is now 6 months old and loves to sit at the table with us. The position this chair places him in is great because it helps him strengthen his abdominal and back muscles and improve his upright balance. He seems very comfortable, much more so than he is in the plastic reclining high chairs. We also purchased the sage green pad, which cleans easily and goes well with the cherry finish. The only complaint about the Svan High Chair is that the safety belt is difficult for people with larger hands to buckle due to its small size. Otherwise, this is a wonderful chair, well worth the cost!
