Our Review of the STOKKE TRIPP TRAPP® high chair

The TRIPP TRAPP® highchair from STOKKE® (pronounced 'Stoh-kuh') is the original at-the-table wood high chair design. The TRIPP TRAPP®forgoes a feeding tray in exchange for a closer connection between a child and their family at mealtime. Thanks to a distinctive angled configuration that provides children with an intimate mealtime perspective, the TRIPP TRAPP® became the most imitated wooden high chair on the market.

Peter Opsvik, creator of the TRIPP TRAPP® convertible high chair, had a simple objective when designing this versatile wooden high chair: to allow children of all ages and sizes to sit comfortably at the family dining table, rather than outside the family circle.

Peter accomplished this via two methods. The first is the TRIPP TRAPP's® angled design, which enables you to move the highchair up to a table of any height, thus allowing your child to eat at the table with his or her family. The second is the TRIPP TRAPP's® multiple height adjustment settings that open up a range of seat and footrest settings.

Thanks to this high-degree of convertibility, the TRIPP TRAPP® can comfortably accommodate anyone -- from a 6 month old baby to a mature adult. No tools are required to adjust the seat height or footrest, and only a minimum amount of work goes into setting this durable, ASTM certified high chair up.

  • The TRIPP TRAPP® is designed to work with tables up to 32" high.

Stokke accessories for the Tripp Trapp high chair permit parents to comfortably seat children aged 6 months or more in this wooden high chair. A TRIPP TRAPP® Baby Rail, sold separately, attaches to the seat and functions as a passive restraint system; there is also a 5-point harness restraint included.

A specially designed TRIPP TRAPP® Cushion is also available. With all these elements in place, the result is an extremely versatile high chair that will retain its usefulness for years to come. Its lasting value is backed up by a 7 year warranty, and the vast array of available colors assures that the Stokke Tripp Trapp will be a perfect fit in your home and your life.

How does the TRIPP TRAPP® compare to the Svan High Chair?

A reasonable comparison to the convertible TRIPP TRAPP® is the Svan wooden high chair. Both of Scandinavian design - but with a markedly different aesthetic - the Svan and the Stokke are both beautifully constructed and will support the weight of an adult. The Svan offers a removable feeding tray, and has numerous height adjustments.

Note: While the feeding trays of most high chairs force a child to sit away from the table and outside the family circle, the TRIPP TRAPP® embraces the opposite philosophy. The TRIPP TRAPP® high chair's angled design provides children of all ages and sizes with a closer family connection during mealtimes.  It does not come with a feeding tray, nor is there one available for purchase . . . you simply don't need one.

I hate high chairs I think they're useless. I bought this chair when my daughter turned 1. She's now 4 and still uses it. We love it so much that I also bought another for my parents house. This chair truly can grow with your child.

Love it!

I have two children that need a booster or high chair at the table. After an unfortunate incident involving the loss of all of our household goods, I found myself needing to replace seats for a 4 yo and a 2 you at the table. I chose this chair, and have been extremely pleased with that decision. Sleek design, versatile look (simply change the pad and get a whole new look), this chair combines sensibility with good looks. I really enjoy how it gives the smaller children a place at the table, without needing to find space for a separate, clunky "high chair" in the room. These chairs can simply be stored at the table, and do not look out of place. The way the seat can be tailor made for the size of the child ensures a long life. As a matter of fact, even though the two seats were purchased for the 4 yo and 2 yo, the 6 yo and 9 yo must often be asked to move so the little ones can sit down! Just one note of caution: make sure to read the instructions ALL the way through before putting together. ;-)

TRIPP TRAPP HIGH CHAIR

Reviewer: KBlack , Arroyo Grande, CA Date: December 28, 2007
As a Grandmother I love the Tripp Trapp High Chair. It will grow with my Grandchildren and fits nicely at my Dining Table. The Boys are so happy to finally be eating at the adult table. The only down side I found was that, as a Grandmother, the chair was a bit difficult to assemble.

Stokke Chair for My 3 Sons

5
Reviewer: Anonymous , Columbus, Ohio Date: October 04, 2007
When my 1st born was 2 we bought him a Tripp Trapp because we were sick and tired of cleaning the dirty high chair and most of all we wanted to include him at our meals. We had seen the chair in action at our friends house. He is 5 now and he still has it and it looks brand new. When his twin brothers came along I knew that as soon as they were big enough and could feed themselves I would do the same. I love this chair, it's so easy to clean, it looks like the rest of the grown-up furniture and best of all they allow the boys to be part of dinner. Easy to put together, adapt to the boys growth, and best of all no hidden old food. One thing I can keep clean with three boys 5 and under!!! It is well worth the price, it will eventually be a desk chair for the boys.

Outstanding

I am very satisfied with the Trip Trap chair and happy that I found it here in America. I am from Germany and it is very popular there so I really wanted to have one and it was not easy to find. It really is a very good highchair because it is very robust what, in my opinion, is so important for babys security. And additionally - it looks very nice too! The ones I saw were plastik and did not seem to be useful for agile babys!

Sitting a little longer

4
Reviewer: Christine , North New Jersey Date: July 14, 2007
We bought the chair thinking that our toddler daughter might sit a little longer at the dinning room table where we have all our meals. I think she does sit a little longer.... she is at the perfect hight and is comfortable. No more knealing or sitting too low. She loves the Chair! The only thing bad is she gets her arm out of the safty straps. The wood we choose looks great with our dinning room furniture. The chair came fast.

My First born is now almost four months old and we both enjoy "the Chair" He still is a little wiggely with his head but we have chair training every day and soon he will be sitting like a king. I knew this was what i wanted the first time i saw it and it just fits in with our home and i know my son will have a great place to sit for a long time. i just fell in love with the sleek scandinavian look. I like that its easy to clean and a space saver and I love that my son will sit with us at the table and learn how to eat in a social setting and not sat aside away from the rest of us.I do really recommend this chair.

We have used these chairs for both of our children, and are looking to get a third for our comming child. The chair grows with the child, and our kids both love to sit in them. Our oldest is 4 and has never asked for another booster or a 'normal' chair. Even the cusions are personalized for each of the kids...I know that you and your child will love the stokke tripp trapp chair as much as we have..
