The Inglesina Zippy is a newcomer to EliteCarSeats.com, but should prove to be a valuable addition to our extensive lineup of car seat compatible baby strollers. We have been waiting in anticipation, but after finally getting some in from Italy and having the chance to give them a test run, we are more than pleased with the results.
What features make the Inglesina Zippy stand out from other umbrella strollers?
The Inglesina Zippy is a welcome addition to the mid-sized umbrella stroller market. It packs only the best, most useful features and conveniences demanded by today's parents into a single light and durable package. The ultra-simple folding mechanism and car seat compatibility make the Zippy a good choice if you plan to use the stroller from your child's infancy and need to make regular transfers from the car to the street and back again.
- The Zippy is only compatible with the Graco Snugride infant car seat, and can be used with an infant either with the Zippy's seat in the fully reclined position, or with the optional Inglesina Bassinet.
- The 2007 Zippy is NOT compatible with the Graco Snugride, instead it will only work with the Compass I-420 infant car seat
Many of the Inglesina Zippy's features (such as a fully adjustable sun canopy that provides shade from any angle, a large underside storage basket, a cupholder for you, a snack tray (and a bumper bar) for your passenger, and a 4-point recline for the padded seat) are more or less standard issue on most new strollers.
Another feature that sets the Zippy apart from the pack is four wheel independent suspension that provide a super-smooth ride on bumpy roads or sidewalks. This suspension system just might make the difference between a sleeping child and a screaming child when you try to navigate questionable streets or take your Zippy stroller on a light off-road adventure.
- The Zippy works with children from infancy to 45lbs. It comes complete with a rain cover. With optional accessories like the Saccontino Footmuff, the Zippy can be configured for use across all four seasons.
What is so great about the Inglesina Zippy stroller's one hand, one-step folding mechanism?
One of the key selling points for the Inglesina Zippy is its near-instantaneous folding mechanism and freestanding-when-folded feature. The Zippy is the only true single-hand fold stroller.
- To fold the Zippy, you need only grasp the rear handle with one hand, push the release button with your index finger, and lift. Your Zippy can be folded and ready to go in the time it took you to read this.
In addition, he Zippy will stand on its own when folded, making it much easier to stow in a closet or corner. To return it to action just pull up on the release trigger on the handle and the Zippy will spring back into stroller mode.
Bottom Line: The Zippy is part of the Italian Made family of high quality baby strollers and travel systems, and its closest competitors are the Chicco Cortina and the Peg Perego Pliko P3 Classico, both of which are more affordable than the Zippy. The cost difference reflects the convenience of the one-handed and freestanding fold, a tougher frame, and the availability of a Bassinet and matching accessories.
The Inglesina Zippy is an all-around excellent choice in umbrella strollers, but the high price tag may be a deterrent for some.
