cleaning nightmare and breakdown

2
Reviewer: Anonymous , Alberta, Canada Date: March 09, 2009
I thought I would love this chair- and after reading the reviews I have a lot of the same issues- The tray seam is disgusting and hard to clean, there are extra hiding spots for food between the layers of padding and in the back where its hard to reach- and worst of all- the plastic clip broke and theres no way to replace it unless a new strap is purchased as the clips are attached to the straping. I would suggest looking around at other chairs before thinking about this one. The one really great thing about it is that it can fold up and be put out of the way... and its able to be raised and lowered- but thats it. I would take a non folding stationary chair that can be cleaned over this one in a minute

Love the look, but very hard to keep clean

We bought this high chair before my son was born and I really liked the look of this high chair and it seemed it would be easy to clean since the seat wasn't fabric and wouldn't have to be put in the washer with every meal. I hate how hard this high chair is to clean. There are so many nooks and cranies it is almost impossible to keep clean. Food gets caught everywere, in the tray seem and in all the arm seams. Great high chair if you don't mind it being dirty or have a ton of time to clean it well.

impossible to clean

Don't buy this high chair unless you have nothing better to do than clean tiny little crevices after taking it apart. Yes, it is pretty. But you can't even machine wash the cover. Save yourself money and time and buy a cheap plastic one with no fabric. Believe me, you will get over not being fashionable.

keep looking

I purchased this high chair after researching various brands and found that this brand came highly recommended. I was also looking for a chair that folded up compactly. I am currently on my second child and I can't wait to get rid of this high chair - the more I use it, the more I dislike it. The recline option is great for when they are super little (under six months - but you're not supposed to feed them before then anyway) Once they start sitting up by themselves, the chair does not really allow them to sit upright. I had to put towels in behind the cushions so my kids wouldn't slouch in the seat - even with the towels they still seems to slouch. I have a friend who has this same chair and she complained about the same problem. I also dislike the way that food gets trapped in the seam of the tray, and that you can't really submerse the tray for cleaning (it fills up with water.) On the plus side, I have found that the straps come out looking like new when thrown in with a load of laundry. And, of course, this chair fold up easily and compactly. Overall, very disappointed in this chair, and I am not really a picky person. I was expecting a lot more, especially with all the positive reviews and the hefty price tag.

Chicco Polly High Chair - Love it!!!

Reviewer: stephanie robertson , Tempe, AZ Date: August 24, 2008
The Chicco Polly High Chair is a great highchair. It was so easy to put together and it's a snap to clean. The colors are fun and it doesn't take up a lot of floor space. It arrived super fast!

Tray seam cleaning

Reviewer: Melissa , Australia Date: August 19, 2008
I find the high chair has all the necessary features but agree that cleaning can be a bit of a problem, particularly the straps. For the seam in the main tray, I find a toothpick works really well in getting all the bits of food out.

Cleaning Challenges!

3
Reviewer: Liz , San Francisco Date: August 03, 2008
We have twins and always try to buy cost effectively so we see this as a long term option. The Chicco does have great features such as the double tray, height and reclining options but my children are at finger food stage and now it is getting really grubby. I have to take the whole thing apart daily to find the food that hides in all the crevices. Hardest to clean are the main tray seam and straps which collect food like a magnet. I use a nail brush but it's not great on the straps. A good chair if you can invest the time in cleaning it!

This is a good highchair

Reviewer: Anonymous , NJ Date: March 07, 2008
I like this highchair. The older Chicco's seem to be made better but this chair gets the job done. My 7 month old is still a little small for it so I can never leave him unattended unless I have the tray attached. This is a good highchair for the money.

Dissapointed over time

2
Reviewer: Anonymous , Kamloops, BC Canada Date: March 03, 2008
For the first month I would have given this chair 5 stars with its ease of adjustability, great appearance - all the things I read in the reviews... (2nd child is now 9 months old and realize only really used the high adjustment.) Second month started to notice how difficult it is to keep the main tray seam clean (you actually have to use a toothbrush, and I'm too busy to do that) and it doesn't sit close enough to the tray to avoid a big gap. After 5 months of use the pad started cracking. Over all a disappointment.

Comments from The Staff:

Jody, thank you for your comments. It can be tough cleaning the plastic tray seams. I use the scrubber side of a sponge and have great success. We appreciate your comments and they give us great information to take back to our manufacturers when we meet with them. I am glad you enjoyed the chair for some time.
Best regards
