Our Review of the Chicco Cortina Travel System

The Cortina Travel System by Chicco is made up of the Chicco Cortina Stroller and the Chicco Key Fit Infant car seat. 

The aluminum frame Cortina stroller with one hand fold comes loaded with extra features you and baby will enjoy.  The mutliple position, fully reclining seat and adjustable leg rest provides comfort for your baby.  The seat has "memory" recline for your convenience - it remembers the position you last left it in before folding.  The adjustable, removable canopy is water repellent.   The large basket - which is accessible when the backrest is fully reclined - provides plenty of storage for all the things your baby needs.  Linked rear brakes and a 5 pt harness provide safety and all wheel suspension gives just the right ride to baby.  An adjustable handle make strolling comfortable for Mom or Dad.

This Chicco Travel System comes with the matching Chicco Key Fit Infant Car Seat.

The KeyFit infant carseat has an innovative LATCH management system, easy belt routing and a spring loaded leveling to make the infant carseat installation process easy. The "One-pull", centrally located tightening strap has made tightening the LATCH attachment simple.  The KeyFit base also has wide belt routing loops with a built in belt locking system if the vehicle does not have LATCH.  Leveling the seat is easy with a spring-loaded leveling foot and easy to read liquid, level indicators on both sides of the base. 

The enclosed underside of the KeyFit carsear base helps protect your vehicle's seats from damage.  The harness has one-pull tightening & loosening for quick harness fitting.  The thickly padded infant insert gives extra support for a smaller baby around the head, neck, back & bottom.  The carrier shell is lined with energy absorbing foam. Conforms to FMVSS 213.

Works with babies from 4-22 lbs. -- the newborn insert from 4-11 lbs.

LOVE IT!

I would suggest this system to EVERYONE! The stroller is the only one that stands on its own when folded up. folding and unfolding is easier than any other stroller we looked at. The carseat installs easy. My daughter loves it. The newborn insert was wonderful...it really kept her snug. I will use chicco with all future children. My husband can work it easily also! The only set back is that it won't hook into shopping carts.....but for safety reasons I wouldn't use that feature even if it did.

CarSeat Difficult

The car seat piece is difficult to remove. The handle to engage the release, is stiff and difficult. The otherwise the system is very user friendly.

I noticed that when I first started playing around with attaching of the car seat and stroller that it seemed to be difficult at first, but after a few times it got easier. Not sure if that was because of the latching mechanism 'loosening up' a bit or if it was me getting the hang of it better but either way, I hope the issue doesn't continue for you.

Our baby was in the neonatal unit for 6 weeks and in order to bring her home we had to pass the car seat test...we passed with flying colors of course b/c the seaat kept her head up and very secure...we have been very happy with this seat...you will not regret your purchase. The Dr's are suggesting that car seat now to preemie parents!

The best on the market!

I really did my research on travel systems months before our son was born and this is one of the best systems out there. Our son was premature and weighed 4 lbs. at birth. Thanks to the seat insert, he fit in it perfectly from the get go. He is now 2 months old and he is still comfortable with the insert and falls asleep quite easily in the car seat. The key fit feature makes it a breeze to install and remove the car seat from the vehicle and the stroller is an exceptionally smooth ride for the little guy. Two thumbs up for this product! We subsequently went and purchased the matching playard which is also outstanding! Well done Chicco!

Practical and Easy to assemble

Delivery was on time. The system looks and feels sturdy. I can not speak for the usability of the system as we are still waiting on the baby. Only complaint I have is about the roughness of the material on the seat, where you place the baby. I will be using baby cushion seat cover so this might not be a factor.

It's a great buy for premature infant

My son was born 3 months prematurely and when I saw the video on the website, I knew this carseat was for me. It is a wonderfull carseat. It was easy to install and it light weight. I have nothing but good praise for the carseat and stroller.

Looks great, but could be better

I really like the keyfit infant seat, but when my son was an infant the infant insert fit his body oddly and he was always slumped down and uncomfortable, which made it hard for him to sleep in the carseat (now that he's bigger and doesn't use the inserts, the seat fits him much better). Also, the Cortina stroller is bulky for a small car (I have a Honda Accord). It is very easy to use and relatively lightweight compared to some other travel systems, but even when folded is still rather large and takes up my entire trunk. Chicco makes two other strollers that are compatible with the keyfit infant seat, and (if my son wasn't about to outgrow the infant seat) I would be purchasing either the C1 or C4/Trevi to create a travel system as these strollers are much more compact when folded. Overall, it has been a good system and the stroller is great for use at home, it's just hard to travel with due to its bulk.
