Good except for some details

The BOB Revolution is generally a well designed stroller, but it still suffers from a couple of design flaws.
1. The rails holding the shock absorbers are made from soft aluminum. Every time we air travel and the stroller gets tossed around they get bent badly and I have to readjust them.
2. The harness holding the child is cheap and a pain to adjust.
3. The stroller would benefit from a bicycle type brake for downhill strolls.
Apart from that we have been happy. We particularly like the big wheels, which make it super easy to push the stroller around on all kinds of surfaces, including snow.

harness is poor, our child is not confortable

We have tried our new Bob Revolution a number of times now and we have come to the conclusion we must return it for a refund. Our child loves her little umbrella stroller but we needed something with larger tires and shock absorbers for gravel paths and grassy areas. The Bob stroller with the large tires and shock absorbers bounces our child around more then the her umbrella stroller with little 4" plastic tires and no suspension. The real problem is the harness system. The crotch strap is not adjustable causing our 4 month old (16 lbs) to slide down into a horrible uncomfortable position. We have asjusted the shoulder harness height and tightened it to the proper position but the crotch strap needs adjustment. They claim you can put an 8 week old in this stoller - that is a complete joke. I think your child needs to be way over our childs 16 lbs, 25.5 inches in order to fit properly into this joke of a harness. Why would the shoulder straps be the only part of the harness that adjusts? This is just poor. We researched like crazy and this seemed like the right choice but we were wrong.
Comments from The Staff:
We appreciate your feedback and have contacted the manufacturer. Here's what they had to say:
The BOB Revolution suspension is an adjustable system with one position for heavier children and one for lighter children. Users should take note of the recommended shock position for their children?s weight. When properly adjusted, the stroller suspension system works in conjunction with the large pneumatic tires to effectively reduce (but not completely eliminate) the bumps commonly encountered in typical outdoor sidewalks, paths and trails.
The unique design of the BOB Revolution harness system allows for simultaneous adjustment of the waist belt and the shoulder harness at one time. To help prevent the child from sliding forward you need to make sure the slide buckle located next to the shoulders are level with the top of the shoulders. If they are too low or high this can cause the child to slide forward. Once the slide buckle has been properly adjusted you will want to make sure the waist strap is snug around the child?s waist, this will also keep the child centered in the seat. With the excess strap material you can pull on the end of the strap on both sides till all the excess is removed from the shoulder and waist. This harness system has a proven track record with many families over the years for a wide size range of children. The reason for the lack of adjustment in the crotch strap is due to the ASTM (www.astm.org) safety standard for strollers. This safety standard controls this dimension to help ensure the harness is safe and secure.

Only a few small things I would change

I researched the heck out of jogging strollers before we bought this one. We were hesitant because of the price, but now we know we bought the right one. We originally bought a travel system (stroller and infant seat) but since we purchased the BOB Revolution, we never use the stroller anymore. We take the BOB absolutely everywhere - its comfortable to push and my daughter is comfortable in it. I can get it in and out of our minivan by myself while holding her with ease. In some stores its hard to navigate around all the features because the aisles are too narrow- but that is a fault of the store, so I don't hold it against BOB. (Stores need to have a minimum of 3 ft for an aisle to accomodate wheelchairs). The sun is strong where we live, so having a really good sunshade was very important, and this one is fantastic. The side pockets are terrific for a small toy, paci, a few bucks or keys. Its easy to push on a run and tracks well. My only criticisms are these: 1) For the price they ask, I would like to see at least the handlebar console included 2) The rainguard does not have a window in the top so the parent can look into the stroller without peering around the front. I think its a no-brainer that it should have a window. With these things aside, I still wouldn't trade my BOB Revolution for any of the other strollers on the market.

Review update

I posted a review after we bought this stroller and had used it for only about a month. Our son is 17 months old now and let me tell you...this is the best money I have spent on something for my child! Best stroller for ease of pushing, whether running or just running around. I spurned a BOB "revolution" in my area. About 5 friends who had babies after me all bought this stroller on our recommendation, many puchasing from this site. We've taken BOB with us to Disneyland several times, Maui, etc. When going on the airplane, we simply fold up and secure with a bungee cord so the baggage handler doesn't get a surprise opening. On our most recent trip to Disneyland about a month ago, we got compliments every day on the stroller, how our son was "riding in style". Heck we even saw a few poor saps pushing their kids backwards because the sun canopy isn't big enough on other strollers to keep thier kids shaded. My husband and I laugh everytime we see parents struggling with their kids in some shoddy stroller.
Great for running, although i must admit I run without the front wheel locked into position. I prefer the maneuverablility, just have to be careful. No problems yet after almost 18 months of use. We discovered also that you can take the fabric off and wash in the machine. I used normal detergent and cold water on a gentle cyle, popped it in the dryer and it was shiny and new again. Just make sure you keep track of how to put it back together....my husband has to reassemble twice because he didn't pay attention the first go around. SO my final words to any one with doubts about paying close to $400 for a stroller:
Best money I ever spent. I have never used another stroller and don't plan on buying another since my BOB is such a quality product. Buy another brand and you will probably end up with another stroller sooner than later. I have practically worn the tread off my tires so I may have to find a replacement for those soon. LOVE this stroller!!

Love the BOB!

We traded in our old stroller for this one and are so glad we did! I wanted a great all purpose stroller that could double as a jogging stroller. Our daughter is only 3 months old so we haven't used it running yet but she is very happy in it at a slight recline, and if we recline it all the way, she'll sleep in it too. My husband is very happy with it too....he's quite tall and feels like this is a better fit for him. He's able to walk with the BOB and not be knocking his feet into the stroller with every step. The only negative I can think of is that's its a little bulky to get in the trunk with a baby in one arm....

Thorn-prone tires but otherwise fabulous

I love the BOB, BUT on my first outing, a 5 mile walk, I got flats on all the tires, stranding me and my baby! Bummer! Have invested about $40 for Slime, thorn tape, a patch kit, and a frame bike pump with a head that will fit the valves on the BOB tires, so am now hopefully thornproof! Haven't needed the patch kit and pump yet. I think BOB could make beefier tires that would be a little more thornproof (this was all on paved sidewalks!). Otherwise, the BOB is smooth, frictionless to push, beautifully maneuverable, and my baby seems to like it. We have a Chariot, also, but she doesn't like it unless we're going fast on a bike or skis--I think maybe she feels too boxed in and down low in the Chariot. I think the BOB lifts her up some and gives her a better view and more air circulation in the summer.
We bought the Chariot for activity and a Combi folding stroller for "shorter" outings, but now with the BOB, the Combi will go away. I can't stand to push anything else!
Great service from Joggingstroller.com, too.

Follow up from July 16, 2007 Review
Reviewer: Anonymous ,

Just a follow up of my July 16, 2007 review. After having the Bob for about a year, I'm happy to report that I like the Bob more than when I first reported. My original criticism about folding the Bob is a non-issue for me now since we just leave it unfolded most of the time. And since we live in manhattan, we rarely throw it in the trunk. Next, it is truly a jogger's stroller that is also an excellent all arounder. Strolling through subway grates, and uneven sidewalks is not a problem whatsoever (unlike our Maclaren). Even though the Bob has been around, it seems that it's growing in popularity, at least from my anecdotal observations in Central Park. No problems whatsoever doing a loop in the park with my son. He'll look at the horses, other runners, and then fall asleep. It is the best game in town. Bar none. And the best part is that we use the Bob when I'm not running too. We have logged many miles with the Bob. Still strolls like new. I admit that our "workhorse" stroller is the Maclaren Triumph to take our son to daycare via subway, as the Maclaren is lighter, smaller, and, our daycare frowns on the SUV type strollers. Finally, Bob's customer service is great. I emailed them after I noticed a leak in the front tire. Even though Bob people thought I ran over a sharp object causing a flat, which I disputed, they sent me a spare tube the next day. Their response was courteous and quick.

I got the Bob for my birthday. I researched several jogging strollers before I selected the Bob. I couldn't decided whether I wanted a "locked" front wheel or one that swivels. In the end, I was so glad I went with the "Bob". It is wonderful. It is so light and easy to manuver. The only concern that I have had so far is its size. It is quite large, but I haven't had to load it into my trunk yet, so no complaints yet. All in all, I couldn't be happier with my selection and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quality jogging stroller.

YES! BOB IS A

I purchased "BOB" a few months ago and have started to really enjoy it now (spring is here yea!) Which I am glad I did because I see it is on backorder. I got BOB in orange and brown and just love the colors. (Not to bright but more a burnt orange) The stroller is awsome. Super sturdy, easy to drive (it alomost drives itself) and my daughter who is
1 1/2 is super comfortable in it. I almost wish I had this stoller when she was born so I'm sure for the next one I'll get the infant seat attachment. My mother who uses it also says that this is the nicest stoller ever and totally worth the price. I also purchased the center console. The attatchement fits perfectly and is good for a cold covered drink. If you try to walk with coffee in it, I would not recommend. (they do not either) It spills easily and really is not ment for that. But if you want a place for your water I would get it. The assembly was a cinch. Just pop on the wheels and you are ready to go. Fold up is really easy however you have to manuver it so it does not unfold on you (it does not have a lock on it) But once you get the hang of it it's no big deal. A little on the heavy side but I believe it is that way because the sroller is really such good quality. I am thinking about getting the travel case because I do not want the airlines to ruin it. I really love walking around with BOB and look forward to taking a jog with it soon. All and all totaly worth the $$. Thanks "BOB"
