Our Review of the Argington Babylon Toddler high chair

The seat set up of the Babylon Toddler High Chair is like a cascade, drawing its inspiration from the legendary gardens in the sky built by Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar II over two thousand years ago. The back of the Babylon highchair tumbles down, like a waterfall, to whatever height is right for your child, or even a grown-up. This Babylon Toddler is available in different finishes and has all the qualities of a potential family-heirloom.

Argington is a "mom-and-pop" children's furniture company that creates elegant wood pieces with a truly contemporary sensibility. Form and function come through in equal measure with the Babylon Toddler high chair, Argington's follow-up to the beautiful (but discontinued) Zeus high chair.

While the Zeus had a fixed seat and a swooping, musical design, the Babylon Toddler highchair is more angular, is adjustable to multiple heights for different types of tables, and will support a person up to 250lbs. . . . meaning that what starts out as a high chair at feeding time will last throughout the development of your child, and your family. The list of appropriate ages for the Babylon Toddler high chair is "12 months to Adult."

The most similar wood highchairs are either the Svan High Chair or the Kettler Junior High Chair. The advantages of the Babylon are Argington's beautiful finishes, the high maximum weight capacity, and its long-term usability potential.

Please Note: The Babylon Toddler does not come with an infant tray . . . so if you want to use the Babylon as a feeding chair you will need to purchase the Infant Tray Kit and Babylon Cushion separately.

Argington takes safety seriously. The Babylon High Chair exceeds ASTM standards and offers a 3-point safety strap to keep your child secure. Another great feature: if you need extra kitchen space, simply detach the legs to compact it down to store your high chair in a closet or tuck in the corner. But with all the Babylon High Chair's great style, you probably won't want to.

With Infant Tray

Overall a very attractive and functional chair. We have some worries about the base connection, that it may become less stable with time. The tray hardware is very difficult to manage, so we leave it in place most of the time. The chair was easy to assemble and really does look good in our kitchen.

Only counter height high chair

Reviewer: Anonymous , Summit, NJ Date: March 02, 2007
This is the only high chair that will sit at breakfast counter height which makes it a great solution for those with a counter. Seems well made but not as sturdy as the Stokke. Also, the foot rest doesn't come far enough out for a child to comfortably put their feet flat. Very easy adjust of heights - no tools needed. Overall, get this if you need something for height or ease of adjustment, otherwise the Stokke Tripp Trapp is a better choice.
